OLD-GROWTH Forest Meets Kasumi Damascus

These limited-edition Antique River Logs chef's knives artfully blend innovative design with ancient materials. The blade is characterized by its organic geometry, watermark pattern, and razor-sharp 15-degree cutting edge, forged from 33 layers of Japanese Kasumi steel. The distinctive curved handle design is carved from ancient timbers reverently and carefully reclaimed from the bottom of Kentucky rivers.

A lead-free brass bolster is hand-fitted to give each knife the perfect balance and feel. The meticulous process to create these 150 knives took more than three years to complete.

Antique River Logs commissioned the Messermeister bladesmiths and designer, Shoichi Kawashima to create these elegant chef’s knives. The rippling waves of Damascus steel perfectly compliment the ancient wood handles. The result is an heirloom-quality piece that breathes new life into a lost harvest and completes a journey.

Uncompromising Sharpness

The wood handles are from log #28, found on the bottom of the Barren River in southern Kentucky. This white oak log with ebony mineral-infused tones, was remarkably preserved!

The steel is forged by a fifth-generation cutlery family in Seki, Japan. Each knife has a total of 33 layers of high-quality stainless steel which include 16 layers of alternating SUS410 and SUS420 stainless steel Damascus on each side with a core of vanadium gold 10 with cobalt, also known as VG10.

Elevate Your Culinary Experience with Unique Wooden Handles

Our chef's knives are not only excellent performers, but are also timeless works of art, as evidenced by the spectrum of wooden handle hues available: Dark Smoke, Medium Smoke, and Light Smoke. Each hue has its own distinct character, representing the rich history of these historic river timbers.

Dark Smoke: The Dark Smoke handle boasts a rich, deep hue reminiscent of smoldering embers. It's a striking choice that adds a touch of drama to your culinary collection.

Medium Smoke: The Medium Smoke handle strikes the perfect balance between the light and the dark. This shade encapsulates the essence of the river logs, showcasing their natural beauty while still exuding a sense of rustic elegance.

Light Smoke: The Light Smoke handle is a testament to the pristine beauty of these ancient timbers. Its soft, understated appearance pays homage to the wood's enduring history.
